Can I Run Microsoft Access On Mac Using Parallels

Microsoft Project is the best project, portfolio, and resource management solution—but it’s not available on macOS®. However, with Parallels Desktop® for Mac, Apple® users can use a Windows virtual machine (VM) to run Microsoft Project on Mac®.

Getting started with running MS Project on macOS is easy:

  1. Download a trial of Parallels Desktop.
  2. Set up a Windows 10 VM. It’s very easy to buy a new Windows 10 license inside Parallels Desktop. (You can also use an existing Windows 10 license key.)
  3. Purchase Microsoft Project and download the .exe file in your Windows 10 VM.
  4. Start using Microsoft Project to get your job done!

Many Mac users aren’t aware that they can now run Windows 10 for free on a Mac and by using a virtual machine, you can run macOS and Windows alongside each other. Running Windows on your Mac not only allows you to install Visio on Mac but also other Windows only games or programs such as Microsoft Project, Microsoft Access and Microsoft. Feb 14, 2007  Actually parallels can already access files from the mac partition through the 'Shared Folders'. It's so close, I mean the app can be placed in the dock, you can see the.app in the Finder, the VM can access the file through the shared folder, but just doesn't open the file straight from the Finder. You can try Parallels or Bootcamp to run Windows on the Mac, and then within Windows, Office Access, but that seems a little like a Frankenstein solution. I know this sounds heretical from the completely Mac-centric IconDaemon, but sometimes Microsoft wins and you have to bite the bullet and run a PC. Jun 13, 2017  Sometimes, Mac users need to run Windows software. Maybe there’s a program you need for work that doesn’t offer a Mac version, or maybe you occasionally need to test websites in Internet Explorer. Whatever you need Windows for, Parallels is the best tool for the job. Jan 30, 2014  This virtualization software lets me run Windows on my Mac so that I can use all the data modeling and database tools I need. Just this week, Parallels asked if I wanted to try out a new product, Parallels Access. (So as to not confuse this with Microsoft Access, I’m going to use the full name of the product in this post.). Sep 06, 2016  You can install any number of virtualization software programs, such as Parallels or VMWare Fusion or Oracle VirtualBox, to create a virtual machine in which you install Windows and then MS Office/Access and or any other Windows program(s) of your choosing.

Parallels Desktop is the #1 virtualization solution to run Windows, Linux, and other popular operating systems on Mac. Virtualization of a Windows OS on Mac has endless benefits, including:

  • Low cost in comparison to buying a second computer
  • Minimized or eliminated downtime
  • Increased productivity
  • Faster backups
  • Easy to recover or migrate to additional Mac devices
  • Economic use of energy
  • Eco-friendly choice to minimize the amount of electronic waste a single user produces.

Like most consultants, Tim needs slick and stable IT to allow him to focus on the real issues. He doesn’t want IT issues to constantly be distracting him. Parallels Desktop offers a reliable platform that allows him to deliver.

Microsoft won't let me sign in mac. May 20, 2018  Microsoft Word on Mac won't sign me in I recently installed Microsoft Office on my Mac and it actually works fine. However, it won't let me sign into my Microsoft account and I always get the password right it just goes 'LOL no' and does nothing. As an avid personal user of Apple products, Tim also wished to migrate his work life to Mac. However, for most clients he needed to use Microsoft Project as a Gantt chart management tool. Being able to manage multi-project plans is an essential element for any program manager. Unfortunately, Microsoft Project is one of the few pieces of Microsoft software that has not been developed to run on macOS.

After online research, Tim concluded that the only successful way to use Microsoft Project on a Mac was through a Windows virtual machine. He discussed the issue directly with Apple, and they recommended Parallels Desktop as a solution.

Following a very simple installation of Parallels, Tim can now use Microsoft Project natively within a Windows environment on his MacBook Pro®. This means there’s no translation between products claiming to act as a Microsoft Project editor—quite simply, he’s running a Windows version of Microsoft Project on his Mac. It has proved to be an excellent solution for Tim.

Tim wholeheartedly recommends Parallels Desktop, which he has now been using successfully for several months. Installation was simple, and there are many configuration options that can be changed. (For example, the amount of memory dedicated to the Apple or Windows operating system.) This gives greater flexibility to the user. Tim hasn’t had any issues with Parallels Desktop at all, and the product is extremely stable in every way. Tim also added that Parallels® Toolbox (which comes included with Parallels Desktop) has been useful. He particularly likes the disk cleaning tool, which ensures his laptop is always operating efficiently.

When it comes to running Microsoft Outlook on a PC versus Mac, the choice between the two is often less a question of need and more a question of preference. It is essentially the specific functionality of these products that creates the user preference. Preference can, of course, be influenced by need, and every user has at least one specific need for a product: “to accomplish X.”

The average user basically has three options to run Microsoft Outlook:

Microsoft Outlook for Mac: This option meets very basic needs such as drafting emails, creating calendar events, and saving contacts. Based on a review of Microsoft’s direct support forums, the only feature available on Outlook for Mac that is not available on Outlook for Windows is the ability to synchronize Mail, Calendar, Tasks, and Notes with Outlook.com.

Microsoft Outlook for Windows: In my opinion, this is the best option because you’re able to run the application in Microsoft Windows, which means you have access to all of the application’s features. You’re able to use read-receipts, social, and voting features, allowing for collaboration on your projects. More importantly, side-by-side calendars, conversation actions, and the ability to use Word to compose your emails all allow for endless support from your co-workers so you’re all on the same page. You can even paste tables from Word/Excel directly into your email draft. There is an endless list of features available for Windows that are not available for Mac.

Office 365: This one-year subscription provides the entire suite of Microsoft products, plus 1 TB of OneDrive and Skype. Office 365 offers both “for home” and “for business” options, depending on your need. In addition, on up to five machines, you can download the applications natively versus using them in a browser. Downloading the program directly is highly recommended because there are many native options that are not available—or reliable—in the browser version (which again supports my opinion that Outlook for Windows is the best option). You can try a one-month subscription of Office365 for free.

Do you own a Mac? Does your job require the features available on Outlook for Windows? This is where Parallels Desktop for Mac can help you avoid the need to purchase a separate computer for Windows. Here’s what you will need to do:
