Open MS files (mostly Word, sometimes Excel) are freezing (spinning wheel), sometimes a couple of times a day. It has been doing it a little for a few months and more often in the past 2 weeks. I wait for the wheel to stop, but the file stays frozen. I try to force quit MS Word and it looks like it worked (closed on the force-quit box) but the files stay frozen on the screen. I can't find a way to stop it except to close the Mac. Normal closing doesn't work and I have to Force close (holding down power button).

I am using Word for Mac 2011 v.14.7.7 (170905) on a MacBook Pro with OS High Sierra v.10.13.2.

I think all my updates for OS and MS are up-to-date.

I previously had a language font for Lao installed (2 months ago), which I thought might be the problem, but have removed that and the problem persists.

Thanks for any suggestions.
